The Palladium” or the wooden statue of Pallas is seen here on the reverse of this Antonine Aureus.

Pallas, associated with Minerva (and Athena in Ancient Greece) is a symbol of protection. The legend dates back to the city of Troy and the wooden statue sent by Zeus to protect the city.

Here she is seen on a fine style aureus of Antoninus Pius.
